Once in David, walk through the bus terminal and find the large refurbished school buses with “Boquete” written across the front. They leave hourly, starting at 4:20 am, with the last bus leaving at 9:45 pm. The trip takes about an hour and costs $1.75, to be paid when getting off the bus.
From Panama City:
Buses leave hourly from the Albrook Bus Terminal in Panama City to drop off at the Bus Terminal in David. They take around 8 hours, with a bathroom and lunch stop in Santiago. The cost is $15.25, and they are very well air-conditioned, so be sure to wear something warm. The night buses leave at 10:45 pm and 12:00 midnight respectively, and arrive early in the morning, costing $18.50. From David, follow the above directions.
From Bocas del Toro:
Take the boat to Almirante. From there, buses leave regularly to David, taking about 5 hours and costing around $10-$12. From David, follow the above instructions to Boquete.
Once In Boquete:
By Taxi: From the Boquete Central Park bus stop you can grab any yellow taxi and keep heading up the road (north) to “Los Naranjos.” Most taxis now know the bus stop as “Don Rocco Mini Super de Los Naranjos” which is directly across the street from Hostal Nomba. Cost $1-2/person
By Micro Bus: From the Boquete Central Park, walk one block uphill and look for the “La Bruna” supermarket with the large red “Balboa” signs (see picture below). From there, hop in a “colectivo”taxi or microbus van with “Alto Quiel” or “Bajo Quiel” or “Bajo Mono” written across the front. After a 5 minute drive, get out at “Don Rocco Mini Super de Los Naranjos” or tell the driver “Hostal Nomba.” Cost $0.40/person.
